Terry Ann Burke Bio
I am a dedicated Crime Victim Advocate with over twenty years of diverse experience in supporting victims of crime, with a special focus on individuals with disabilities. My lifelong commitment to advocacy was honored with the 2024 Advocate of the Year award. I proudly serve on the Human Trafficking Board, the Domestic Violence Task Force, the Florida Crisis Response Team, and the Coordinated Community Response Team at Indian River State College, where I work to ensure safety, justice, and hope for those most vulnerable.
Beyond my professional roles, I am deeply engaged in community outreach, conducting safety awareness presentations and promoting internet safety for children, teens, adults with intellectual disabilities, and parents. I am also committed to trauma-informed care education, empowering survivors to heal and rebuild their lives.
My advocacy is rooted in compassion and collaboration. I find great fulfillment in partnering with agencies to build strong support networks for victims, especially children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
I hold extensive certifications in areas such as Human Trafficking, Child Abuse, Trauma-Informed Care, Crisis Pregnancy and Adoptions, Disability and Abuse, Domestic Violence, Elder Abuse, Stewards of Children, PTSD, Rape Crisis, Grief & Loss, Internet Crimes, and Guardian Ad Litem, among others.
Outside of my advocacy work, I find peace and inspiration in cooking, writing poetry, and photography—creative outlets that help me restore balance and renew my dedication to serving others.
