LEAP Program
LEAP (Learning and Educational Advocacy Program)
CILO is pleased to introduce our new LEAP Program. LEAP is designed to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are seeking educational advocacy, transition services, independent living skills, and information and referral assistance. To learn more or begin the process, please email LEAP@cilo.org. You will receive an automated response with a brief screening questionnaire to complete. Once your screening application is submitted, a CILO staff member will contact you within 2–3 business days.
Our advocates meet with you and your child to determine what they need to get the most out of school and to prepare them to eventually live independently. If needed, we will then meet with teachers, school officials, and committees to explain federal law requiring the accommodations that would benefit your child.

Eligibility:
LEAP supports individuals Palm Beach County residents with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IQ under 70), Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Spin Bifida, Down Syndrome, Prada-Willi Syndrome and their families in achieving educational, social, and independent living goals through personalized advocacy, skill building, and training programs.
Youth Leadership Advisory Council
Youth and young adults with disabilities identify and complete community leadership projects to tackle gaps or barriers in their community for people with disabilities. These projects are guided by a staff member and ultimately, the participant will have a chance to talk to their elected officials about their concerns and pitch their project in a week-long Youth Leadership Forum in Tallahassee.

Self-Advocacy and Leadership skill building
The Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) is coordinated through Florida's Independent Living Network which brings high school students and young adults with disabilities from across the state for an unforgettable week of leadership development. Nominated delegates participate in interactive workshops, focused on disability rights, independent living, leadership, communication, employment readiness, and civic engagement. The experience includes staying in the dorms at FSU while they explore post-secondary education and career pathways. It culminates with a visit to Florida's Capitol to learn about the legislative process, and discussions about how they can make meaningful change in their local communities.
