Susan Carberry
For the past 13 years, Susan Carberry has served as a Social Security advocate at CILO, where she's helped individuals access vital benefits and navigate complex systems. Prior to joining CILO, she held impactful roles in public service, including working as a social worker for HUD and as a victim advocate in the State Attorney’s Office.
Earlier in her career, Susan worked as a tax consultant, a profession she pursued until her mid-forties. At that point, driven by a desire to make a more meaningful difference in people’s lives, she transitioned into social services—a move that proved both fulfilling and aligned with her values.
Susan earned their degree from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1980. While the date may seem distant, the education laid a strong foundation for a career rooted in advocacy and service.
