Dan Shorter (CEO of CILO) Bio

Guided by a strong commitment to independence, dignity, and access for people with disabilities, Dan Shorter is celebrating his 10th year as Chief Executive Officer of the Coalition for Independent Living Options (CILO). Under his leadership, CILO provides free services and support to approximately 8,000 individuals with disabilities each year across Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, and Indian River counties.

Dan brings extensive leadership experience from the media and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining CILO, he served as Vice President of Digital Technology for The New York Times Company, President of Digital for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Vice President of Operations at Digital First Media, and Digital General Manager of The Palm Beach Post. Earlier in his career, he was a front-page editor and Executive Business Editor at The Post. He has also served as Vice President of Operations for the Palm Beach County Food Bank, reflecting his long-standing dedication to community service.

Dan is married to his wife, Jacquie, and together they share their home with their beloved pets: Lady Sif, a Bernese Mountain Dog; Balder the Brave, a Golden Retriever; and Peepers the cat.
