Carissa Vaccaro Bio
Carissa Vaccaro is a Crime Victim advocate in the Palm Beach office. In addition, she is also the newly appointed Secretary of the Palm Beach County Victims' Rights Coalition. Carissa started with CILO as an FAU intern in Spring of 2020 and after graduating with her Bachelors in Social Work, she became staff in May of 2021. Carissa helps people who have a disability and have been the victim of a violent crime, including domestic violence, human trafficking and child sex abuse. She provides information and referral services, assistance with completing victim compensation applications and monitoring claims status, personal advocacy and emotional support, justice support/advocacy, emergency legal advocacy, safety planning/emergency safety measures (including Ring Camera Doorbells), advocacy for Disability accommodations, as well as trainings/presentations and technical assistance with other providers and community-based agencies.
