JOB TITLE:  CRIME VICTIM ADVOCATE – Case Management Focus

Program for Crime Victims with Disabilities
STATUS: Grant-Funded, 40-Hour Full-Time Position with Benefits

Location: Palm Beach County, FL

 

JOB SUMMARY: Provide direct services to crime victims with disabilities as outlined under the Victims of Crime Act including but not limited to facilitating support groups/peer counseling sessions, providing information & referrals, and training. Candidate will be required to train other providers on various crime-related topics so public speaking is an essential job duty for this position. Attend outreaches, community events, and provide presentations in an effort to identify victims. Participate in local Coalitions, Councils, and Task Forces with a focus on increasing stream-lined service delivery to underserved or under-identified populations with a focus on crime victims with disabilities.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (such as human services) OR a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of related experience. The candidate must have knowledge of community resources as well as knowledge of crime victim services and direct service provision. This position handles cases consisting of ALL crime types, ALL ages, ALL types of disabilities and focuses on case management including providing assistance with benefit applications, court accompaniment, coordinating services both in and outside the agency, providing guidance, support, and assistance through all aspects of the criminal justice process using a strengths and empowerment perspective with a trauma-informed, victim-centered approach. The candidate should have personal experience with disability, be able to relate to & work with consumers with various disabilities, work with a diverse age range, and be committed to the Independent Living philosophy. Travel throughout Palm Beach County is required however, due to COVID, all services are currently operating virtually. The ability to work with minimal supervision is essential. Bilingual preferred but not essential.

JOB TITLE:    Independent Living Specialist – Case Management Focus

Program for Individuals 18+ with Disabilities

STATUS: Grant-Funded, 20-Hour Part-Time Position

Location: Palm Beach County, FL

 

JOB SUMMARY: Provide direct services to adults with disabilities by completing benefit applications such as SNAP, Medicaid, financial assistance, Medicare waiver, Healthcare District, food delivery service, APD services, transportation service, and other related benefits/services; assisting with independent living skills training such as basic financial literacy, pre-employment skills, social skills, and basic life skills; conducting outreach to disability communities to engage and enroll new clients in the program.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field (such as human services) OR a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of related experience. The candidate must have knowledge of community resources as well as some general knowledge of case management direct service provision. Dynamic, upbeat, and ability to engage others to have open discussions while delivering a message of safety and educating participants on skills, services, and resources available. The candidate should have personal experience with disability, be able to relate to & work with consumers with various disabilities, work with a diverse age range, and be committed to the Independent Living philosophy. Travel throughout Palm Beach County is required however, due to COVID, all services are currently operating virtually. The ability to work with minimal supervision is essential.
