2011 "Making Connections" Event

 

The Palm Beach County Business Leadership Network
is hosting the 2nd Annual

"Making Connections" Event
August 24, 2011
at Northwood University

More than eighty business, HR and agency professionals participated in the Making Connections conference and the Business Leaders award luncheon.


During the opening session Kristin Kampher of Workforce Alliance and Sharyn Hancock shared their story.  Kristin’s unique skills as an employee with a disability will save Workforce Alliance $5,000- $7,000 a year in sign language translation services. Anne Hirsch, Co-Director of JAN, was present for the opening plenary session on the benefits of hiring people with disabilities, reasonable accommodations and JAN services. Anne Hirsch’s power point is available by clicking here.


The afternoon included break out sessions on topics including: the ADA: Hiring and firing people with disabilities; Employment support services; Tax incentives for hiring people with disabilities; and the Office of Equal Opportunity.  Ellen Leibovitch’s PowerPoint on the ADA: Hiring and firing people with disabilities is available by clicking here.  

 

There were 16 different business recruiters present at the Making Connections Works Career Event as well as 15 non-profit agencies. One hundred and sixty five job seekers attended.
